The Free Union Tree lighting took place after a year break because of Covid 19. It was a beautiful evening with a visit from Santa and hot cocoa and cookies supplied by the Free Union Homemakers. A special thanks to Dr. Bruce Campbell for the use of his beautiful property.
The old site of Maupin’s brothers store is now a field of zinnias; the current owners were nice enough to let locals help themselves.
The Maupin Brothers store in Free Union was raised June 2021. Built circa 1966 this Free Union icon will leave lasting memories in all those that lived in the area. After 92 years, the Maupin Brothers Store closed August 28, 2020. The store was sold to local residents (name coming soon) who plan to redevelop the site in conjunction with the old Hucksteps Garage into a café/country store.
